The Culture Show: Mick Imlah's The Lost Leader

Last night's Culture Show on BBC2 featured an interesting - and quite lengthy - discussion of Mick Imlah's excellent second collection, The Lost Leader, including commentaries on, and readings of, the poems by Andrew Motion, James Fenton, and Mark Ford. It's well worth checking out and features a reading of 'London Scottish', a brilliant poem about the rugby teams sent to fight in 1914.

The full programme itself is here, and the feature starts at around 17 and half mins in. There's also readings of two poems from the collection on the Culture Show blog.

Thanks for that: I was heading to bed when the culture part of Newsnight came on, so I'm off to have a look see.

Writing away in a quiet way these days; been having a rest since the dissertation went in, in September. Hope you're enjoying your CW MA...? Have I that right?

Coming towards the end of the MA, yes - it's strange sort of system with various 'levels' to the course, but basically I've a final portfolio of poems to submit and then I'll be done.

Haven't written much since the pamphlet, really - just reviewing, reading as much as time allows, and toying with the idea of a PhD. What was your MA dissertation on?
